50 words for snow…

You called and shouted and burst my deafness. You flashed, shone, and scattered my blindness. You breathed odors, and I drew in breath and panted for You. I tasted, and I hunger and thirst. You touched me,
and I burned for Your peace.

50 words for snow

  1. Okay, I’m gonna tackle the title of this right now… mostly because my eyes are kinda bugging out of my head right now. Why?

Because yesterday – for some reason I can’t fathom, then or now – I decided to read in-depth about the myth about “___ Eskimo words for snow”. I seriously have no idea why I did; it just came to mind and I spent about 20 minutes reading about it online. I’ve never had an intense focus on it, having known for a long time that it’s just a myth/misnomer.

So… seeing it here so shortly after I entered my head out of the blue. Kinda jaw-dropping.

    Yes, just an aside. 😉

      1. Now here’s a complete tangent…

…I’ve been to Nunavut, technically. Long story made short: over the years, I’ve been part of a group that flew in three canoes as far north as a twin engine Otter (small float plane) could fly with that much gear, then canoe a couple of weeks further south every year.

The first year, when we flew the canoes in, it was right on the Manitoba/Nunavut border. Well before GPS were readily available, but by best guess we were across the border. Barely.

What this has to do with sex… nothing… but I’m smiling like an idiot tonight. 😉

Ps. I did know there’s a difference; I didn’t realize it was offensive, eh! 😉

        1. Wellllll, the brain IS the biggest sex organ, after all. 😉

My associative title really took us off the beaten path, didn’t it? (So much so, I had to look at my original post again, haha!) Who woulda thunk my amazing quote and super sexy pic would get upstaged by linguistics, political correctness, and geography…

… big dimpled smile going on over here.

          🙂

ps: That trip sounds like a dream, eh.

          1. Now here’s a laugh for you…

…I’m only halfway done with the post I woke up to write. I probably won’t have it done for another half hour.

Why? Because I’m geeking out over various websites related to the trip path we’ve taken over the years. Bringing back memories – and thus, related online research – of various lakes that didn’t have any recorded history of modern visitation since the HBC sent people to that area. Something kinda cool to be in places where people (except quite possibly locals) hadn’t been for over a century.

And truth to be told… for me, discussions about linguistics, political correctness, geography, and philosophical quotes will upstage pics 99 times out of 100. The exception being when pics are for me, because like you said about the brain… 🙂

            1. The internet makes memories come alive in amazing and geekish ways. Oh, the nerd in me totally gets that! 🙂

Gifts come in many packages… I’m glad you can indulge some of them tonite (or, morning – depending on one’s geography). I hope it fuels your writing in unexpected and delightful ways.

              xo

ps: It would seem we share some weaknesses… tho, I often think in images (tho not just any image will steal my focus) so, my ratio might be more like 80 or 85:100… mmmaybe? I’ve never thot about it that way before. Huh.

          2. Heh. Now here’s something for you – a little insight into the mind of Dave.

The first time I read one of your new posts, the first thing I look at – and try to decipher – is the title. Then, the quote or writing (if any) that you include with the post; reflecting on that.

Then… the tags you have associated with the post; how they fit with the post (besides descriptive of the visual) and the overt and subtle meanings as I interpret them.

Lastly, pretty much every time, I look at the visual and see how – or if – it fits with the rest I’ve taken from the post.

I get the feeling that at times – not all the time, but some – that’s close to the intent you have for a post, or how you’d like it interpreted.

            1. Love that! Thanks for telling me. How utterly delightful.

It is often an intuitive process which also means I usually have a few posts ‘in process’ as they await accompanying text/ image or… other posts with similar energy/ mood. It’s about timing and space, too – how it all flows (and I mean like a river or the wind might with various textures, currents, depths, tempo, urgency – emotionally, intellectually, spiritually, physically).

I like discovering the layers of a post as it comes together – the thinker and artist in me digs that very much. The more visceral it is, the better. I’m still exploring the medium/ form as well, along with my moods and appetite for intimate revelation… sexual and otherwise.

Just tonite I wondered if anyone even reads the tags so, that’s a nice surprise. There are some posts where the tags reveal a certain level of subtext – so much so, that I often cut myself off, else I give it ALL away and leave nothing to be discovered and owned by the viewer.

I’m still getting used to the idea that people I don’t know in my flesh-and-blood life read my blog so, getting a glimpse of your process is really interesting and actually, it helps me tons. Tons. You also inspire me to be okay with how particular I can be about a post… I want it to mean something. For me, yes. And it’s lovely that it might mean something to others, too.

That is really one of the loveliest surprise here… so very lovely.

              1. I don’t mean to intrude on your conversation ~ Just wanted to say, in response to your wondering, that I always read your tags. There are multiple layers to your tagging process, it seems. Typically there are physical or sexual descriptions; but it is the emotional revelations/desires, intellectual ideations, and spiritual associations that catch my attention.

What grabbed me about this particular post was the line in text, “You touched me, and I burned for Your peace.”

Combined with the tag “spiritual connection between lovers”…..

The personal associations between the two phrases, and the interpretations thereof…..

Overlapping spheres of intimacy. This resonates with me, Ms Lola.

(And it doesn’t hurt that the Y is capitalized in You/r either. 😉 )

                1. Oh, dear me, you do not intrude… banish such thots, please.

Thank you for telling me… I am utterly delighted to read your response. Yes, yes, overlapping resonances… I’m so very glad they intrigue you as much as me. 🙂 xo
