apodyopsis…
in the dark, in the dark…
… the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light.— Plato —
it’s in the translation…
the once and future king…
– T.H. White –
all i hold…
I hold a beast, an angel, and a madman in me, and my inquiry is as to their working, and my problem is their subjugation and victory, downthrow and upheaval, and my effort is their self expression.
– Dylan Thomas –
i don’t have it in me (to pretend)…
the peace of wild things…
When despair grows in me
and I wake in the middle of the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting for their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.
– Wendell Berry –
before the fever breaks…
It is often when night looks darkest, it is often before the fever breaks that one senses the gathering momentum for change, when one feels that resurrection of hope in the midst of despair and apathy.
– Hilary Clinton –
